“Let’s give a big hand to our cooks
tonight!”  And so begins every evening
meal at Dismas House.  In the past
year, organizations and individuals
have been on the receiving end of the
Dismas “big hand”.  Some have been
hearing the applause once a month
for twenty years!!!!
Thank you!!  You are the heart of the
Dismas organization.  Truly, it is
around the dinner table that the
Dismas mission of reconciliation
comes alive.

Volunteer Cooks
“Wow…..I love this place.  I come
home from work every night and there
is a meal waiting for me.  And not just
any meal.  The food is always great!!
I love this place….” – Charlie, Dismas
House Resident
“We had a great time!  Having grown
up in a big family, it just felt more like
Christmas being able to share our
time, food and fun with all the people
at Dismas House.  It felt like a big
celebration!” – Mary Lou Newhouse
“The dinner table felt like a big family
sitting down for dinner.  Everyone
talked about the good things that
happened to them that day and were
very open with one another.” – Miriam
Popper, Volunteer Cook.

“Having dinner at Dismas House is
a great experience. It makes you
feel at home and being a part of
someone’s life. I don’t want to miss
it...” – Natalie, Dismas House
Resident & Volunteer from
Germany
“When people from the community
take the time to prepare a meal
and share it with us it tells  me that
I matter and that I belong to
something.  The fact that people
want to spend time with me gives
me a feeling of self worth and
makes me believe that I am a part
of the community.”  – Norm,
