East Allen Dismas will open its doors in May
At long Last! Great news! East Allen Dismas, the new
Dismas House in Winooski is becoming a reality! After
several years of trying to find the right place for a second
Dismas House in the greater Burlington area, we will
finally be able to give support to an additional ten men
and women leaving prison when we open in May. We
have worked in collaboration with Burlington Housing
Authority to acquire a property at 103 East Allen St. in
Winooski. If you are headed east on East Allen the new
Dismas House is a big blue house with a lovely porch on
the left past the VSAC complex.
One of the basic principles of Dismas is that we belong to
the public at large and operate on its behalf. Just as the
participation and support of the wider community has
been essential to our success in Burlington, the support
and involvement of the city of Winooski, collaborating
agencies, dedicated volunteers and understanding
neighbors is now, and will always be, critical to our
success at East Allen Dismas.
We are thankful to all of you for helping make this a
reality. There will be an open house for our Winooski
neighbors in May and a grand opening in mid September.
