people to get involved in politics and

Kitty Dukakis has also spent a lifetime in
public service, focusing on womens
rights, human rights, the arts, the
environment, her community and her
family. President Carter appointed her to
the Presidents Commission on the
Holocaust and she became a founding
member of the United States Holocaust
Memorial Council.
She is the author of two books: " Now You
Know," the story of her battle with
addiction and depression, and " Shock:
The Healing Power of Electroconvulsive
Therapy," co-authored with Larry Tye,
which tells the story of how ECT proved to
be the one treatment that dealt effectively
