The Sister Beatrice Woods Memorial Dinner is the largest fund raising event for Burlington Dismas House.

The goal of the annual event is to raise money for Burlington Dismas House and gain recognition and support in the greater community.  The dinner honors Sister Beatrice Woods, a Sister of Mercy who  was tireless in her work with men in prison.

The event has grown to include a silent & live auction as well as a nationally known guest speaker.  The Dismas community also honors an individual every year who exemplifies the mission of reconciliation in their life..

Since the first Dinner & auction in 1986, it has grown into a high profile event with nationally known speakers, but has remained in spirit a small communal gathering where house residents, volunteers and staff (the Dismas community) invite the greater community to join us in celebrating who we are, where we have been and where we hope to go together.

The Sister Bea Dinner is an extraordinary evening where business executives, corrections officials, mothers and fathers join to support and practice reconciliation.  It is truly a diverse crowd that gathers to support former prisoners.    This is no more than Sister Beatrice Woods would expect of people.  We think she would be dazzled by  the depth of this event.  It has not only evolved into our most successful fund raising event but a high profile event in the greater community.

The dinner & auction is held in the spring.   We are always looking for volunteers who are interested in joining the committee in planning the event.   Click here for Volunteer application or call Kimberly Parsons at 802-658-0381.
